Grading Scale:

A = 90% - 100%

B = 80% - 89%

C = 70% - 79%

D = 60% - 69%

F = 59% or below

 

 

 


 


Grading Policy:

75% Summative Assessments

o   25% Summative Multiple Choice

o   25%Summative Short Answer

o   25% Summative Essay

25% Formative Assessments

o   10% Formative Quizzes

o   15% Class work / Projects

 

 

Class Expectations:

1.      Be on time and prepared.

2.      Listen to directions and use common sense.

3.      Treat others as you would like to be treated.

4.      Put forth a good effort everyday.

5.      Follow LQ rules and procedures.


 

Classroom Procedures:

·         Assignments will be turned in as a packet at the end of each unit.   Graded packets should be kept in a Binder and brought to class when needed.

·         Extra credit will not be assigned.  Late assignments will not be accepted.

·         Writing is a focus in this class.  Students will be expected to write in-class responses demonstrating mastery of units

·         Each semester students will complete one document based question (DBQ) and four free-response questions (FRQ).  .  The Advanced Placement rubric will be used to grade these writing assignments. Students will have an opportunity to complete more than four FRQ’s and the best four grades will be counted.

·         Summative Short Answer questions are used to determine mastery of content and assess the ability of students to organize historical information effectively.

·         The purpose of Formative assignments is to guide and monitor students through the learning process and check for understanding

·         All work must be written not typed in blue or black ink only.

·         Group work will be assigned.  All members are expected to contribute to the finished product.  If a student is unsuccessful at group work, I reserve the right to determine if work should be done independently.

·         Students are to monitor their grades regularly.  Students must present grading questions, no later than two weeks after a posted grade.

·         Cell phones are only permitted in class with the permission of the teacher. Cell phones being used without permission will be confiscated and turned into the administration.
