Welcome to AP chemistry. When I return from Jury duty we will discuss and demonstrate the details of this class. As you are in this class then you must be a very good student. I will treat you as such.
Through-out the year you will keep a notebook. Worksheets and notes will be placed in the notebook ordered by date.
Your first assignment is to use as much chemistry knowledge as you can to describe the demonstrations on the Royal Institute Chemistry Demonstrations Video. Write symbolic formulas if you can. Otherwise use chemical names and be sure to log important observations and results ( heat, color, sound, bubbles…). I expect to discuss this when I return. By the end of the year successful chemistry students will be able to write, understand and reproduce the chemistry shown in this video. Date and place these notes in your notebook.
Your next assignment is to start working on memorizing the 40 important Ions listed on the worksheet passed out in class. These are expected to be a part of your vocabulary.

The college board has completely restructured AP Chemistry and I’m looking forward to a good year of exploring it with you.
