Spanish 3 (Period five) Assignments

The class will be conducted entirely in Spanish, and students are expected to use Spanish at all times as well. We will USE the language, not talk about the language, except when grammar is explored (which is usually done in Spanish as well). This means that you will speak and listen to Spanish daily, but also write and read Spanish. Imagine the class like a basketball (or any other sport) training: It will be very interactive, lots of sharing/talking (you need to play TOGETHER!), and it should be fun using the language - like actually playing the game, not just watching it--and we all drop the ball every once in a while, no big deal :) We will be doing lots of different activities, get up, move around, but sometimes also drills, like in basketball, when I see the need to practice a certain skill set more. Grammar is important in order to facilitate the game. You can't play without knowing the rules, can you? Or at least, it would be a mess. No perfection is expected, and I am very aware that there are different levels of talent when it comes to languages. Don't worry, everybody is considered a valuable team player as long as you are engaged during class, keep your mind open, participate, try your best and have fun! I usually do :) One last word: When I speak Spanish, I do not expect you to understand everything! I know you don't understand everything, sometimes not even half! In class I'll explain the strategies how to deal with the arising ambiguities. Be assured, over the course of the year you will understand lots more.
