Description
In your final year of high school English, the focus will be on British Literature from the Anglo-Saxon era to the present. As we read, you will see how the trends, styles, and themes of the literature of the past have influenced literature overtime. Literature: You must be able to demonstrate a high level of literary comprehension and analysis. We will be covering the early eras of writing (Anglo-Saxon, Middle Ages, English Renaissance, Restoration, Eighteenth Century, Romantic Period, Victorian Era, and the Twentieth Century). To see some of the works you can look forward to exploring, please reference the assignment overview sheet. Writing: Writing well is key to being a successful college student and employee. Since this is a college prep class, you will be expected to write at very near the college level. Therefore, this course will emphasize writing skills and weigh your writing skills heavily. Plays/Novels: Throughout the year supplementary novels and/or plays will be used to enhance a given time period.
