About the Teacher

Amanda LaPera has a Degree in Business Administration from CSULB and an English teaching credential from CSUDH, with supplementary authorizations in Introductory Business and Marketing/ Entrepreneurship. This is her 19th year teaching English and 17th year at La Quinta High School. She hopes to cultivate a love of learning, reading, and writing with her students.
 
Writing is her other passion and she's the author of the nonfiction book, LOSING DAD, Paranoid Schizophrenia: A Family's Search for Hope (Adamo Press 2013), which won the 26th annual Benjamin Franklin Silver Award in Psychology. Some of her short fiction, poetry, and letters have been published in literary magazines, anthologies, and newspapers. She has also done professional public speaking for the past ten years.
