School and Industry
- Students are trained in all aspects of the business industry giving them strong skills in accordance with our state curriculum standards. Our program is competency based and strictly adheres to state guidelines. Employers commend our students on their excellent computer skills, business knowledge, financial abilities, and work ethics.
- As part of our collaboration with industry and colleges, several guest speakers are invited into classrooms to discuss career exploration and field trips are often organized for students to get a first hand look at businesses. Recent businesses our students have visited: Oakley, Quiksilver, Hurley, Volcom, Whittier Law School, and Duradoggie Pet Toys. Field trips are an important part of our curriculum. Additionally, CPA’s visit the accounting classes, marketing experts and small business owners visit the Entrepreneurship, Marketing and Introduction to Business classes.
Standards Based Curriculum
- California’s schools are delivering a standards-based curriculum. Our goal is to connect essential business skills with teaching and content standards to show how strong standards-based classroom practices in secondary education support acquisition of employability skills for students. The business teachers all focus on school-to-work and school-to-college skills. Our students are fully equipped to enter the world of work or an advanced degree program in college. The goal is to continue to assure a world-class education for every child, while our vision is to help all students become productive citizens after graduating from La Quinta High School.
