Cheerleading Code of Conduct

  

This is the Code of Conduct set forth by the La Quinta High School Cheerleading Program.  These standards of eligibility, behavior, and responsibility shall apply to all members.

1.      Standards of Eligibility

a.       I will maintain a 2.0 grade point average or higher at every quarter.  My GPA will be verified by the activities secretary.

b.      If I receive less than a 2.0 GPA for one quarter, I will be ineligible to participate in any activities involving cheerleading (outside of the 6th period class) until the next official quarter grade report shows my GPA is a 2.0 or higher.

c.       If I receive less than a 2.0 GPA for two consecutive quarters, I understand that I will be dismissed from cheerleading and removed from the cheerleading class.

d.      I understand that if I receive a progress report, it is my responsibility to submit a copy of it to the cheer advisor.

e.       I understand that the cheer advisor may request a current grade check at any time.  It is my responsibility to provide the completed grade check form.

f.       I will maintain a satisfactory citizenship record and will receive no U’s in any  quarter.

2.      Standards of Behavior

a.       As a representative of my school, I realize that my conduct must be exemplary at all times, both on and off campus.

b.      I will display responsible citizenship at all times and serve as an ambassador and representative of La Quinta High School.

c.       I will be respectful of La Quinta High School and all individuals at all times.

d.      I will uphold the La Quinta High School Cheer Constitution at all times.

e.       I will cooperate with and support the cheer advisor, cheer coach(es), and administration.

f.        I will abide by school and cheer dress code at all times.

g.       I will not instigate or be a part of any verbal or physical aggression towards my peers or school staff.

h.       I will abstain from the use of chemical substances, stimulants, drugs, cigarettes, alcohol, or any other controlled substance.  If I use an illegal substance I will be suspended from participating in all cheerleading activities and removed from the 6th period cheer class. The period of suspension will consist of school attendance days and may be a total of nine weeks or one scholastic quarter whichever is longer in duration.  If the incident occurs during vacation time, the suspension from cheer will begin on the first day that school resumes.

i.   I understand that if I am suspended from La Quinta High School, I will be temporarily suspended from cheerleading until my actions have been reviewed by the administration.  The administration will determine if I am allowed to continue the school year in cheerleading.

3.      Standards of Responsibility

a.       I understand that cheerleaders must be enrolled in the 6th period cheer/PE class the entire school year in order to be a part of the cheer squad.

b.      I will abide by the LQHS Tardy Policy.  I understand that prompt attendance to class, practices, games, competitions, and events is mandatory. 

c.       I understand that permission must be obtained from the attendance office prior to leaving campus during school hours.

d.      I understand that it is my responsibility to work on assigned projects, such as game preparations, practices, and study hall, during the 6th period cheer class.

e.       I understand that I will be assigned tasks by the cheer advisor, cheer coach(es), and other members of the cheerleading squad.  It is my responsibility to complete these tasks and follow through on all cheer responsibilities. 

f.        I understand that I will be expected to participate in all cheer events and that it is my responsibility to know when and where these events will take place.

 

Any violation of the Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action, including immediate removal from the cheer squad, as determined by the cheer advisor and administration of La Quinta High School.

To ensure that all parents and students are aware of the expectations for the student leaders of La Quinta High School, please sign this contract and return it to the cheer advisor with the completed application packet.

I the undersigned cheerleader have read and fully understand the La Quinta High School Cheerleading Code of Conduct.  I promise to abide by this code as long as I am a member of the LQHS Cheerleading Squad.
