Vincent Avila

My name is Vincent Avila. I have 12 years of experience working in the education field. I studied Public Health at California State University Fullerton. I have a background working with students of all ages and demographics. My early career included training and working within the AVID programs in Santa Ana Unified School District. I have been a tutor, teachers aid, and high school basketball coach among many other roles.

I was fortunate that the bulk of my career was managing 21st Century ASSETs grants for Century High school. I have worked with many different Administration teams and helped to implement PBIS programs for all tiers of students. I was raised in East Los Angeles and attended D.W. Griffith Middle school a feeder school to Garfield High school. This is where the seeds were planted for me to eventually land with Project Kinship as a Restorative Practice Intervention Specialist. I was informed through life experiences about the inequalities that were strife in my community. I was very fortunate to have role models in my life from all age groups that went to the same schools as I and grew up in the same neighborhood. They would listen to me and granted me the greatest gift which was their time. If it wasn’t for these strong and present family, friends, and community members I would not be the individual I am today.

With Project Kinship “We envision a world where hope lives and the cycle of despair ends.”
