Constitution

Because of district guidelines, the constitution has been reformatted (see attached file). The constitution below is an older version, off of which the newer one is modeled after.

Officers & Duties:
  • President: 
 
The president oversees all club activities and leads all meetings, officer or member. He/she must take care of necessary paperwork and work closely with the adviser when planning club projects and the annual college trip.
 
  • Vice President: 
The vice-president has flexible duties, serving in the absence of any officers. He/she is an integral part of planning and organizing projects and is responsible for planning the club semester project with the President.
 
  • Secretary: 
The secretary is responsible for all CSF announcements and for publicizing all CSF projects/meetings to members. He/she must record the minutes and content discussed during every officer and member meeting.
 
  • Treasurer:
 
The treasurer is responsible for all CSF financial transactions, including working closely with the advisor to finance club funds, the annual college trip, and senior awards. He/she must handle the CSF school account.
 
  • Advisor: Mr. Geil
 
Purpose: To foster high standards of scholarship, service, and citizenship on the part of students of La Quinta High School and to promote appropriate activities among its members.
 
 
Eligibility:
 
  • Students must apply each semester for membership during the first four weeks of the semester.
  • Membership is held during the semester following the one in which the qualifying grades were earned (must be done four weeks after semester begins).
  • Retroactive membership may not be granted.
  • Students need to complete and return an application and have verification of grades (transcript or report cards).
  • Students must qualify by taking appropriate course and by earning a total of 10 points. See the application form for course lists and points.
  • Summer school may be used only if the student has not taken sufficient LIST 1 and 2 courses. The courses need to be from LIST 1 or 2 and the student must have taken the course for the first time.
  • College courses must be taken as part of student’s “normal class load”, with the school’s approval to take the college courses. For a three semester unit class, an A grade would earn 3 points and a B would earn 2 points.
  • Transfer students must apply immediately. A student may transfer semester memberships by written verification of those memberships from the CSF advisor at the former school. Students transferring from an unaffiliated school may have his/her record evaluated by the advisor, who will grant retroactive membership for the transfer semesters which qualify. A student must earn at least one semester membership at the current school to receive an award.
 
Awards:
 
Students who earn the honor of Life Membership (4 or more semesters) will receive:
  • Eligibility for CSF scholarships
  • Federation chapter seal on diploma
  • Seal bearer status on the permanent academic record and on transcripts
  • Certificate of recognition at Senior Awards Night
 
Additionally, a certain number of active semester memberships earn the following awards (at least 1 semester must be completed senior year):
  • 4-5 semesters: CSF pin
  • 6 semesters: CSF pin + CSF stole
 
 
Active and Inactive Members
  • Members will be considered active during a specific semester semester if they:
 
      1. Turn in an approved application
      2. Donate $5 for that semester .
      3. Complete all 8 required service hours (4 ISP, 2 tutoring/faculty assistance, 2 other) 
 
 
 
College Field Trip: Senior CSF members are provided with an opportunity to visit a university campus during the fall semester. Junior members are eligible to attend provided there is extra room and at the discretion of the advisor.
 
 
Meetings:
  • Member meetings are held on the first Fridays of every month, unless otherwise indicated through an announcement.
