Principal's Welcome Message
Principal’s Welcome 2021-2022
Welcome to La Quinta High School. My name is Adrian Lucero, and I am honored to serve as Principal at a school with such a rich tradition of excellence and achievement. The mission of La Quinta High School is to provide a safe learning environment that prepares students for college and career pathways by developing their critical thinking and problem solving skills, personal and social skills, and the perseverance to attain their post-secondary goals in a global society.
This is my 11th year serving the La Quinta community in the Garden Grove Unified School District. During my time here I served as a science teacher, and a teacher on special assignment in the Office of 7-12 Instruction where I served La Quinta directly. I returned to La Quinta as an Assistant Principal for 5 years before being named here as the Principal. It has been an amazing journey to share with the students, staff, and community these past 11 years, and I am looking forward to what we can do together in the future.
I am especially proud of the work La Quinta High School has done around mental health and supporting the whole child through the addition of many specialized personnel and our CHOC (Children’s Hospital of Orange County) and OCDE (Orange County Department of Education) certified student Wellness Center.
I also would like to thank you for choosing La Quinta High School as home for your students. We value parents as our partners in education and hope to work together to provide your students the best high school experience possible through our parent outreach and the development of our new Parent Center.
La Quinta was named last year a "California Distinguished School," a “Title I Academic Achievement Award” winner, and an AP Honor Roll school along with many other distinctions. In the most recent statewide rankings in the US News and World Report La Quinta received a rank 58 out of the 2600 high schools in the state.
La Quinta has always been known for its outstanding programs and high standards in academics, athletics, fine and performing arts, and extracurricular activities. In addition to the many college preparatory, honors and Advancement Placement courses we offer, La Quinta offers robust career pathways in both Biotechnology, Business, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, and Digital Media.
On a personal note, I am married with 3 sons (college, high school and second grade), and a dog. My wife works in education as well and teaches both Elementary and Special Education.
I believe in supporting the whole child and supporting my families from academics to socio-emotional support. I feel that key to developing relationships with the La Quinta community is open communication and collaboration. I have an open door policy and am eager to get to know each and every one of you.
I am excited about what we can do together and welcome to the Aztec family!
With Aztec Pride,
