Parent Events
Ten Educational Commandments for Parents On behalf of La Quinta High School, we are proud to present The Ten Educational Commandments for Parents. The program is designed to inform, empower, and train parents regarding the educational process serving them and their children. In February 2007, the first session of the 10 Educational Commandments was offered for Vietnamese and Hispanic parents. Our community liaisons will be contacting parents to invite parents to future sessions. If you would like to participate in a future session, call Kim Trinh or Rocio Rodriguez at (714) 663-6345.
Back-To-School Night Back-to-School Night is held every fall during the third week of September. It is an opportunity for parents to visit La Quinta in the evening, meet their student's teachers, and learn about the classes and curriculum. Parents receive an announcement each fall about our upcoming Back-to-School Night event. Open House Open House is held every spring during the second week of March. This is also an opportunity for parents to visit La Quinta, talk to teachers, see student work, and find out more about their student's daily school experience. Principal's Night The purpose of the Parent Advisory Group is to provide input and advice on the latest trends and activities at La Quinta. Our Principal, Mrs. Milner, is in attendance to speak to parents and answer questions. Refreshments are served and all parents are welcome! If you are interested in participating, please contact the principal's secretary at 663-6315. Principal nights are held in the 200 Lyceum from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM and will fall on the following Tuesday evenings:
L.P.I.O. (for spanish speaking parents)
All spanish speaking parents are welcome to our once a month meetings that are held in our school's Library. Sessions are only one hour long from 6pm-7pm. Each meeting will have information regarding whatever current events are going on in our school's campus, information on upcoming parent meetings, and open discussion for parent's suggestions and opinions. If you are interested in being a part of the L.P.I.O. meetings, call Rocio Rodriguez at the guidance office (714)663-6375 between the hours of 11:30am-3:00pm and let her know you want to be one of the parents involved.Here are the dates for the 2007-2008 school year L.P.I.O. meets:
School Committees Parents are encouraged to join school committees such as the English Learner Advisory Committee, School Site Council, Technology Committee, Safety Committee, the Single School Plan Committee, and the WASC committee to provide input and learn about school functions. Please call the school at 663-6315 to join a committee. Grad Night Grad Night is an evening designed to promote a fun, safe, and secure environment for our graduating seniors the night of graduation. Sites such as Castle Park, Boomers, and Camelot have been utilized in the past and sites vary depending on each Grad Night Committee. If you are interested in being part of the Grad Night Committee contact the front office at 663-6315 and we will assist you in contacting current committee members. It is a fun and rewarding opportunity to send off our graduating students. Athletic Booster Groups Many La Quinta athletic teams have booster groups. Join a booster group and support our sports teams and our champion Aztecs. To get involved in an athletic booster group, call the athletic office at 663-6372.
Friends of Music Boosters Parents of students in any music class at La Quinta are encouraged to join and participate in the Friends of Music Booster Club. Please call the music department at 839-5644 for more information |
